Nevertire BESS – 5 MW / 20 MWh

Fast-response grid support

Located in Warren Shire Council, Nevertire BESS (5 MW / 20 MWh) connects to the 22 kV DNSP network to firm local renewables and improve feeder reliability. The system time-shifts surplus PV for evening peaks and provides fast frequency response, ramp-rate control and volt/VAR services to the NEM. By reducing curtailment and smoothing variability, it supports customers at the edge of the network. Delivery prioritises local participation—regional contractors, jobs and training—alongside an engagement plan for amenity, traffic and noise that aligns with Council requirements.

A 100 MW solar farm paired with a 50 MW/200 MWh battery delivers firm, dispatchable renewable energy during peaks and cloudy periods. The BESS smooths PV variability, provides ramp-rate control and supports system frequency; a hybrid plant controller manages reactive power and export limits at the POI. Community engagement focuses on local supply chains, jobs and training.
